Hemodialysis what does it mean?

Hemodialysis what does it mean?

Have you just been told you need Hemodialysis?  Why? How does it work? How long? These are all valid and important questions.  Before dialysis can be understood, the role of the kidneys must be understood.

Your kidneys are vital organs that sit near the middle of your back, flanking each side of your rib cage. These organs work as a champion filters removing waste products from your body. Once your body has broken down its proteins the chemical Urea (yoo REE uh ) is the result.  Along with Urea, excess water and other waste materials must be excreted. Hence, these wastes are eliminated in the form of urine. When you kidneys can no longer remove the body’s waste, dialysis is prescribed.

Dialysis is the artificial process of eliminating waste and excess water via an external machine. An artificial temporary or permanent access is surgically placed. A temporary access is placed in a major artery located in the neck, chest or groin.  A permanent access is located in the arm and sometimes in the groin. Two needles are used to tap the access. These needles are connected to tubes that are threaded through the dialysis machine. One tube carries the unclean blood to a filter located on the machine called a dialyzer. This is often called your new kidney. Here the blood is cleaned and excess water and salt is removed. The clean blood is now returned back to the body via the second tube and needle.

This process of filtration can take on the average of 3 to 4 hours per treatment three times a week in an outpatient setting indefinitely, unless a kidney transplant is appropriate or spontaneous return of function. However there is a growing trend of in-home treatments and outpatient treatments done over a span of 8 hours (nocturnal dialysis).  Research demonstrates the nocturnal method as best therapy because of the lower demand.

Hemodialysis is not the only option. Alternatives include, peritoneal dialysis and kidney transplant.  Whatever option you choose please talk to your doctor to discover which option is best for you.

MAKE CASH ONLINE REVIEWING NEW MUSIC

In my last post I spoke about "piece meal"-ing a bunch a gigs to get me closer to living full time in Costa Rica on US. dollars. Although this latest entry is not an lucrative gig, it sure is fun. The site is called Slicethepie. The site offers lay and experienced critics to review upcoming artists. Your constructive criticism allows feedback to the artists. As I said before the pay is not lucrative. For about a 4-5 sentence review pay is about 11 cents paying up to 30 cents depending on your content. The systems does detect spam and shallowing commenting. It is important to use colorful and meaningful adjectives. The system also detects repetitive use of words and content. Payment is made via paypal so keep this in mind at sign up to ensure proper routing of funds. With payment on the average of .10 cents per 90 second music sampling I figure I could average about 2.50 an hour.  This is something I could do for about an half hour to an hour a day giving me about 30.00 dollars a month. Which is ironically the electric bill  ( so says my landlady ) at my Costa Rican home. Please note, there is a timing system that does " time out ". So listen a little take a break and come back.  This feature is beneficial for it refreshes the mind and allow for quality input.

Please resist the urge to download "bots" found on YouTube. This is cheating ( in my opinion ). This is what artist are using for actual feedback. After all music is for the soul, so lets speak from it. Taking the "bot" approach may very well be allowing "Junk" to enter the radio waves . Although these "bots" allow you to choose your adjectives, it still gives the feel of being generic. If you are at lost of words, just use a thesaurus.  Call me a purest but when it comes to music, should we all be?

Become a User Tester make extra cash online

As always I'm looking for ways to make extra cash. It is my hope that eventually I can "piece meal" several gigs and break free from the "rat race" and enjoy the rest of my days on the beaches of Costa Rica while routinely working my online gigs. Until then I must continue. The last site that I have added to my resume is a neat site called User Testing. Below I have included an excerpt from the site :

How it works

  1. Website owners will pay to watch a real person use their site so they can discover where their site is confusing. UserTesting has a panel of “user testers” to do this. If you become one of our user testers, then whenever your demographic profile is requested, you’ll have an opportunity to earn money using a website.
  2. You use the online screen recorder to record a video of what’s happening on your screen – mouse movements, clicks, and keystrokes – and your spoken comments while you use the website you’re testing. (Videos are typically 15 minutes long.)
  3. You answer four questions in writing about your experience. .
  4. You’ll earn $10 (paid with PayPal).
Note: No webcam required. Your face is not recorded.

How to become a user tester

  1. Be at least 18 years old
  2. Have your own PC or Mac (Mac OS X 10.7 or higher) and a broadband Internet connection. You can record your voice with a microphone or by telephone.
  3. Use the screen recorder to record your screen and verbal comments as you browse a sample website.
  4. Fill out a one-page form with your demographic information (gender, computer experience, etc.).
  5. If you'd like to take mobile tests, own one or more of the following devices: iPhone, iPad, Android phone, Android tablet, Windows phone. Note: You will need to take a sample website test before you can take mobile tests.
Only your screen and verbal comments will be recorded!
Thus, far the site seems pretty neat. You receive emails when evaluations are needed. Each evaluation has a screener test to determine if you are a good fit. However, it appears that you have to act fast on these task or they will fill up. However, when you do get accepted, 10 dollars for 10 minutes is some pretty easy money. Follow the link below and give it a try
